The Recruitment Bunker are exclusively looking for skilled BIW (Body in White) fabricators to join the DRVN Automotive groups team in early 2025 and build these sought after continuation cars at DRVN Automotive’s centre for fabrication and paint excellence on Newton Aycliffe’s Business Park. The first of several models in our range, this limited run of 300bhp/800kg road and race cars are officially licensed by Ford making this a unique opportunity to work on an incredibly significant project in the rich history of the brand. Blending a motorsport proven powertrain with lightweight materials including carbon fibre and thoroughly modernised components to deliver exhilarating handling characteristics, we strive to deliver a “peak analogue” driving experience to our customers. The Body in White (BIW) Fabricator will be responsible for assembling and fabricating the structural components of vehicle bodies prior to painting and final assembly. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and expertise in various fabrication techniques to ensure the integrity and quality of the vehicle body to an OEM standard. Responsibilities Company Policies: Manage and follow the quality, health, safety, and welfare policies of the company Component Fabrication: Fabricate and assemble structural components of vehicle bodies according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards Welding: Perform various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and spot welding, to join metal components together securely and accurately Metal Forming: Utilise metal forming equipment such as presses, rollers, and brakes to shape and form sheet metal into required components Assembly: Assemble fabricated components into the body structure, ensuring proper alignment, fit, and finish Development: Develop prototype body build phases, identifying fabrication processes and jig and fixture concerns to ensure alignment with production intent Quality Control: Inspect fabricated components and assembled structures to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications Essential Skills NVQ or an equivalent qualification within a relevant Automotive Technical subject area Proven experience as a welder or fabricator in a manufacturing or automotive environment Proficiency in welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and spot welding, with the ability to pass welding certification tests Strong knowledge of metal fabrication techniques, equipment, and materials Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and follow guidance documents Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, repeatable work Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment Physical ability and dexterity to perform fabrication tasks in a fast-paced production environment Commitment to safety and adherence to safety regulations and procedures Desirable skills An understanding of industry and regulatory requirements such Quality System Regulations (IATF16949, ISO9001, 5S, TPM, KPI’s) Coded TIG welding qualifications already held Experience in low volume, high quality car body production using traditional metalworking techniques An interest or high-level knowledge in the design and engineering of classic Ford vehicles Please note we do not provide sponsorships to those who require it and will only accept applications from those who have full rights to work in the UK with no restrictions and IDLR/Full Settlement status.
