IDP Coordinator (12462) - FTC until July 2025
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Cardiff and Vale College for an IDP Coordinator to be based at our City Centre Campus on Dumballs Road on a fixed term contract until July 2025. The post holder will support the co-ordination of actions involved in creating and maintaining Individual Development Plans (IDPs) in line with ALNET, ensuring all learners with ALN are identified and supported at CAVC. To work directly in partnership with the ALNCo/Deputy ALNCo, learners, parents/carers, CAVC staff and external organisations to make sure the college works efficiently to meet its statutory duties for ALN.
Key Responsibilities include:
1. To complete the actions assigned by the Inclusion Panel to support the process of identifying if a learner has an ALN. This may include gathering information from Tutors, parents/carers, the learner and the co-ordination of person-centred meetings.
2. To support the ALNCo/Deputy ALNCo by ensuring the college is compliant with ALNET Act (2018) and the Code (2021) regarding timeframes for the identification of ALN and creation of an IDP.
3. To act as a key contact for young people, parents/carers, local authorities and other stakeholders in relation to IDP reviews.
4. To engage with support from other agencies or third sector organisations, arranging meetings and involving them as appropriate in the IDP review process.
5. To use person-centred practices to ensure young people with ALN are put at the heart of the review process.
6. To ensure that annual reviews are timely, robust and support each young person's aspirations towards adulthood and independence. This will involve converting some learners with Learning and Skills Plans (S140) to the ALN system and developing IDPs (Individual Development Plans).
You will hold a PGCE or appropriate teaching qualification and demonstrate significant experience of working with children and/or young people with ALN. You will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and be an effective collaborator with learners, colleagues and external partners. You'll have a strong understanding of ALNET Act (2018) and Code (2021).

Whilst the ability to speak Welsh is not essential for the role, we would love to hear from candidates who are fluent and can engage with learners through the medium of Welsh.
