MadeWORKSHOP, an innovative and thriving design and build company based in East London, is seeking an experienced Workshop Operations Manager to oversee all operational and logistic aspects of our workshops.
Our diverse team of craftspeople create exceptional scenic elements for various industries, including TV, Film, Art Installations, Live and Experiential Events. As the Workshop Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency at madeWORKSHOP.
Key Qualifications:
* Comprehensive knowledge of the industry, management, and manufacturing or construction.
* Proven experience managing teams and individuals in an operational setting.
* Relevant industry experience or similar field.
* 5+ years of Health & Safety experience (preferred).
* Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Aptitude for resource planning, assessment, motivation, and organisation.
* Familiarity with safe working practices.
* Proactive approach and willingness to share innovative ideas.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Supervise daily workshop operations and team performance.
* Manage workshop maintenance, including safety, logistics, and general standards.
* Oversee health and safety responsibilities, ensuring compliance across all departments.
* Maintain inventory of tools, consumables, and waste disposal.
* Continuously improve methods, systems, productivity, and output.
* Implement and maintain PAT testing schedules, workshop safety posters, and COSHH storage.
* Conduct orientation for new employees on workshop procedures and policies.
* Manage shutter operations and ensure workshop security.
* Enforce safe driving protocols, emergency plans, and fire prevention measures.
* Oversee machinery training, ladder safety, working-at-heights safety, and extraction system checks.
* Ensure proper racking and stacking, traffic management, and slip/trip hazard inspections.
* Monitor use and maintenance of power tools, PPE checks, and manual handling practices.
* Manage first aid provisions and maintain clear emergency exit routes.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (1-hour breaks)
