What the Job Involves Your role involves assisting the Chief Contracts Lawyer with legal work related to contracts, procurement, economic regeneration, and more. You will manage and develop a Contracts Lawyer, handle complex contract cases, and provide legal advice and documentation. You'll communicate legal updates within the council, draft reports, and ensure legal decisions are timely and efficient. You will contribute to corporate initiatives and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and safety standards. Skills Thorough knowledge of contract law, commercial law, tort, and public procurement law Proficient in contract and procurement practices and processes Strong drafting and negotiation skills for complex documentation Ability to interpret legislation and case law to update precedent documents Clear and effective communication and presentation skills Proficient use of IT for casework and performance management Management and supervisory skills to develop a Contracts Lawyer Team collaboration and cooperative work skills Commitment to implementing and upholding equality and dignity policies Local government experience in public procurement law
