RWE Renewables UK Management Ltd.
To start as soon as possible, full time, permanent
The team “Civil & Electrical Engineering” as part of the “Wind Turbine, Quality, Civil & Electrical Engineering” Department is looking for an experienced Electrical Expert to drive optimization of electrical Balance of Plant (eBoP) including components (e.g. HV/MV transformer, switchgear, cable) and design (including GCC) on project and portfolio level for wind, solar, and storage projects. Activities range from (a) optimizing design guidelines, standards and specifications to (b) strategic assessments and evaluations and (c) support of actual projects. The role holder will provide technical expertise as a recognized authority for the entire lifetime of projects for complex and business-relevant engineering.
* Operational support: Provide 2nd / 3rd level support to special wind, solar, and storage projects (i.e. with unique technical challenges) regarding the eBoP, acting as a technical advisor and expert support, RCA, during all value chain steps. Provide central support for operational assets and support compliance with regional electrical standards and norms.
* Assessment and evaluation: Coordinate and manage component prequalification of electrical components (e.g. eBoP, turbine, PV). This includes defining assessment criteria, analyzing/challenging supplier input, and providing critical review of performance, chances/risks. Actively participate in technical due diligence for partnering projects (e.g. M&A) and support cross-regional and framework tenders including the negotiation and procurement process for the eBoP aspect of the project.
* Optimization: Identify technical optimization opportunities related to eBoP (components, system level, and processes); initiate and execute assessments and projects. Assess the impact on a RES asset, e.g. LCOE, risks, value, implementation effort. Mature the technical optimization measures and facilitate their business rollout. Drive standardization and modularization and develop “pre-designs” where highly synergetic across regions or projects. Adjust and improve internal guidelines, standards, and specifications to reflect and enable component and system optimization measures.
Your profile:
* University degree in a relevant electrical engineering discipline or equivalent.
* Proven fault finding and root cause analysis skills.
* Familiarity with the interrogation of protection relays, event recorders, and power quality monitors.
* Preferably, experience in asset management, including operation strategies and design improvements.
* Good understanding of commercial implications of engineering decisions and a track record in adding business value through applying own technical capability.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to effectively communicate with management and negotiate with external stakeholders.
* Excellent teamwork ability and integrative skills.
* Social competence, high level of engagement, and intercultural mindset.
* High standard of ethical behavior to uphold RWE Renewables’ reputation and commitment to core values and code of conduct.
