About the role:

We are striving to increase the amount of recycling collected from both businesses and residents and are proud to be one of the best performing Councils in Wales, which as a country is second in the world for recycling.
The recently introduced Workplace Recycling Regulations has created a significant opportunity to improve the service to Powys businesses, charities and organisations.

About you:
1. You will have a positive attitude and a passion for improving recycling rates in Powys
2. Able to administer and promote the councils’ commercial recycling and garden waste service.
3. You must ensure that commercial organisations are aware of their responsibilities through guidance and education.
4. Be committed to maximise take up of the service with the emphasis on recycling collections.
5. Be approachable and positive, provide advice to customers of their options and ensure that all services are correctly charged and payments received.
6. To deal courteously, efficiently, and sensitively with all customers, on site, over the telephone, via e-mail and social media platforms.
What you will do:
- To provide accurate advice, information and assistance to customers including recording of complaints; service requests; Issuing, collecting, and validating customer documentation.
- To provide responses and resolutions, in a timely and courteous way, to complex queries by telephone, face to face or in writing/email. To deal with difficult customer issues, resolving complaints effectively, escalating to the Commercial Recycling Supervisor as necessary.
- To ensure that all requirements of Section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act are adhered to as regards ‘Duty of Care’ waste transfer and contract documentation.
- To complete site risk assessments and visits as required for promotions, reviews, and new customer development.
- To utilise appropriate Waste Management and Council IT systems, social media platforms and databases to support and broaden the scope of information, access and input information, ensuring customer records are kept up to date in accordance with agreed procedures, maintaining confidentiality of information held and ensure (GDPR) Data Protection requirements are properly applied.
