WHAT WILL YOU DO?
As a seasoned Project Manager with our Source Water Protection team, you'll be the driving force behind our Risk Management Services for a range of municipalities. In this role, you'll lead with impact, ensuring projects are meticulously planned, efficiently resourced, and successfully delivered. Reporting to the Group Manager and collaborating closely with our skilled technicians and coordinators, your role will be pivotal in overseeing project activities, optimizing scheduling, and keeping budgets on track. You will deliver results for our clients by verifying policies and threats, managing data effectively, and developing impactful education and outreach initiatives. Acting as a liaison with regional and provincial Risk Management Office groups and stakeholders, you’ll build strong, collaborative partnerships. You’ll also review development applications, negotiate Risk Management Plans, and support administrative tasks and annual reporting. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced professional to lead meaningful projects to ensure the successful protection of our vital water resources to benefit our communities.
JOB DUTIES
• Provide project support and technical expertise to Source Water Protection initiatives
• Act as a Risk Management Official and/or Risk Management Inspector, including obtaining and maintaining the provincial training requirements
• Prepare essential documents like letters, factsheets, notices, and Risk Management Plans
• Conduct thorough reviews of development applications and complete site visits with comprehensive inspection documentation
• Manage all aspects of project planning, from scheduling and budgeting to personnel and subcontractor supervision
• Take full accountability for financial performance, including revenue, costs, and profitability of your assigned projects
• Contribute to project success with detailed document review, invoicing, and participation in relevant meetings and conferences
• Offer day-to-day direction and guidance to direct reports in alignment with our strategic goals
• Ensure all project tasks align with the agreed work plan, or obtain proper authorization for changes from clients
• Committed to health and safety procedures and practice
• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate
• Travel and shift work may be required in all seasons and weather conditions.
Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies/science, engineering, technology or related to watershed management and planning
• Minimum 5 years of Source Water Protection experience
• Experience in coordinating interdisciplinary projects, and coordination of multiple stakeholder groups
• Demonstrated familiarity with the Drinking Water Source Protection program and the Clean Water Act, 2006
• Provincial Risk Management Official/Inspector training and/or Property Entry training considered an asset
• Strong organizational skills to effectively coordinate multiple objectives with overlapping tasks and within deadlines
• Ability to work independently and in teams and prioritize tasks in a demanding, service-oriented environment
• Strong multi-tasking and project coordination skills including program logistics, work plan monitoring, project and budget tracking
• Ability to prioritize issues in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholder groups and interests
• Strong written and oral communication skills to convey, write and understand technical data in reports, input from various disciplines, guidance documents and presentations
• Excellent computer skills in all the Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
• Familiarity with applicable privacy legislation including the Municipal Freedom of Information and Privacy Act to ensure sensitive information is properly handled
• The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills with fluency (reading, writing and oral) in English
• Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
