Our client, a prominent player in the water industry, is seeking a Temporary Works Designer for their major wastewater infrastructure projects located in Leeds and Preston. This is a contract role under the AMP8 frameworks, suitable for professionals experienced in temporary works design within the water sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and review temporary works designs for wastewater treatment plants, pipelines, and associated infrastructure.
Ensure designs comply with CDM regulations, BS 5975, Eurocodes, and other relevant standards.
Collaborate with site teams, contractors, and third-party consultants to provide engineering support.
Conduct structural analysis and feasibility studies for temporary works solutions such as scaffolding, shoring, propping, formwork, and access systems.
Carry out risk assessments and ensure designs prioritise health and safety.
Support site inspections and audits, providing guidance on best practices for temporary works.
Liaise with Temporary Works Coordinators (TWC) to ensure correct implementation of designs.
Job Requirements:
Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
Experience in temporary works design within water, utilities, or heavy civil engineering projects.
Strong knowledge of BS 5975 (Code of practice for temporary works procedures and the permissible stress design of falsework).
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla, Tedds, or similar design software.
Experience with load calculations, structural integrity checks, and stability assessments.
Ability to work remotely with occasional site visits in the Thames/London/Southern region.
Chartered or near-chartered status (ICE/IStructE) is desirable but not essential.
