We are currently searching for a Chef to run, oversee, and make their own our brand new burger bar takeaway. We need a chef who has a strong understanding of food safety practices, food ordering, food hygiene, kitchen safety practices, and a strong passion for the industry. We expect every dish sent to a customer to be of the highest quality, whilst maintaining impeccable standards of cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen. Responsibilities
Prepare and cook a variety of grilled foods, ensuring quality and presentation meet our restaurant's standards
Assist in the overall food preparation process, including marinating, seasoning, and portioning ingredients
Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to food safety regulations at all times
Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely meal service during peak hours
Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure food is cooked safely and to the desired level of doneness
Help with inventory management by keeping track of stock levels for grilling supplies and ingredients
Participate in regular kitchen clean-up duties, including washing utensils, equipment, and surfaces
Preparing and cooking food items to order
Following recipes and presentation specifications
Maintaining a clean, organised workspace
Adhering to health and safety standards
Organise and manage the rota and staffing costs
Ensure all shifts are sufficiently staffed
Maintain standards of quality and performance.
Interview new staff, maintain current staff files and training
Requirements
Previous experience in a restaurant or kitchen environment is preferred
Strong knowledge of food safety practices and culinary techniques related to grilling
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
A genuine passion for cooking and creating delicious meals for customers
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as needed
Ability to read and understand recipes and food preparation instructions
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to accurately follow instructions and take direction
Ability to multitask and stay organised
Ability to work well with others
