An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Engineer – Battery Test Operations to join the Battery Operations department in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment. About the role To act as the leading engineer for all areas of battery and cell testing within Fortescue Zero at its Banbury Beaumont Road Test facility. To push the development of industry leading facilities, methodologies, test procedure and processes for battery, module, and cell level testing, and associated components / systems. What you will do To act as the technical lead within the battery testing facilities. Future planning and delivery of facilities upgrades. Using your knowledge of battery and test systems, lead and train engineers and technicians in resolving test issues during day-to-day activities. Building and maintaining Simulink and LabVIEW battery testing models for deployment to Speedgoat and NI hardware. Design and build of bespoke test facilities, as well as leading the team with best practices in maintaining test rig hardware and software. Creating user friendly data analysis scripts to assess test measurements, and feedback to engineering. Act as the lead for maintaining calibration of all relevant test equipment. Challenge methods of working to increase team efficiency, quality of testing and safety within the department. Assist in leading H&S activities for the team, taking responsibility for reviewing and approval of SWI’s and RA’s. Take a leading role in initiatives such as internal safety focus groups, with the aim of creating a safe and positive work environment. Training of new employees for areas of: H&S safe working practices, use of test facilities and methods of testing for all areas covered by the Battery Test Team. Implement methods of knowledge sharing between the team, acting as a driving force for a positive working environment. Ability to work independently in planning daily activities to deliver testing programmes to strict deadlines and milestones. Leading the 5S programme and co-ordinating with all members of the team. About you ESSENTIAL: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Experience designing and building development test facilities. Highly disciplined, analytical and organised. Experience in battery test methods and test data analysis. Competent in writing standardised scripts for data analysis in MATLAB. Working experience of HV (up to 1 kV) battery systems Working Experience in the generation of models in Simulink HNC or degree in an Engineering subject. Previous experience of working within a prototype engineering setting Proven experience in leading a team of engineers and technicians in daily activities Training and experience in working with hazardous voltages ADVANTAGEOUS: Experience leading a team of engineers and technicians within an advanced technology company. Familiarity with LabVIEW, NI Hardware, Speedgoat, and CANalyzer. Experience in writing battery test procedures. What is in it for you?
