Our client is a trusted and established supply & fix subcontractor specialising in providing high-quality single-ply roofing, external roof & wall cladding projects. As they continue to grow, they are seeking an experienced and dynamic Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to join their dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in securing work, managing costs, ensuring financial efficiency, and contributing to the successful delivery of projects.
They are looking for a skilled Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to join our team at FCB Building & Roofing. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of cost planning, estimating, and cost control throughout the lifecycle of construction projects. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that our projects are completed on time and within budget while maintaining the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
Are you the right person for the job?
Minimum 5 years previous experience
Relevant construction experience is essential
An understanding of standard contracts used within the Building and Civil Engineering industry
Strong knowledge of standard forms of measurement (e.g., SMM)
Excellent IT skills, particularly in Word and Excel
A driving licence is required
Strong communication skills with an ability to liaise effectively with clients and design teams
Ability to manage multiple activities and projects simultaneously
Commercial acumen and high personal motivation
Flexibility in working hours and across different areas of the business
Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential
What will your role look like?
Manage all aspects of cost planning, estimating, and cost control throughout the lifecycle of projects
Procure new work and pursue new and existing opportunities to obtain tender enquiries
Assess tender documents, ensure adequate information for tender preparation, and take off quantities
Compile and issue sub-contract enquiries, assess quotations, and prepare quotations using an Excel-based workbook for single-ply roofing
Price associated trades typically sub-contracted
Negotiate post-tender and handle contract matters, check & agree contract documents
Prepare and issue tender clarification letters to clients and/or subcontractors
Handle post-tender contract liaison with clients and design teams
Manage subcontract negotiations, interim valuations, site measurements, and variations
Prepare, submit & negotiate project final accounts
Attend site meetings when necessary
