Location: Warrington (with UK wide travel as required)

Salary Range: £70,000 – £80,000
The Head of Safety and Compliance will lead safety, health, and compliance programs across all sites, ensuring adherence to food safety, health, safety, and environmental regulations. The role requires fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and regulatory excellence. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and dedicated to upholding high safety and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain safety and compliance policies in line with UK regulations (Health and Safety at Work Act, Food Safety Act, COSHH).
* Manage licensing requirements, including allergen labelling and Natasha's Law compliance.
* Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
* Maintain accurate records of compliance activities and ensure proper documentation.
* Develop and deliver health, safety, and food hygiene training programmes (e.g., Level 2/3 Food Safety Certificates).
* Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement across the organisation.
* Implement emergency preparedness plans for scenarios such as fire safety and foodborne illness outbreaks.
* Investigate incidents, mitigate risks, and manage insurance claims.
* Lead investigations into safety incidents, ensuring RIDDOR compliance and reporting findings to leadership and regulators.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Operations, Property, Finance, People/Training) to integrate safety into daily practices.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and legal advisors on safety matters.
* Line management responsibilites of a Compliance Manager (part time).
Required Skills:
* Strong leadership and influencing abilities.
* Exceptional organizational and analytical skills.
* Proficiency with safety and compliance management software (a plus).
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifying criteria:
* Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Food Safety, or a related field.
* Relevant certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, CIEH Food Safety, IOSH Managing Safely).
* 5-7 years' experience in safety, compliance, or risk management, ideally within hospitality or foodservice.
* Proven leadership in managing multi-site operations.
* Strong understanding of UK health, food safety, and environmental regulations.
* Familiarity with fire safety and allergen labelling laws
Working Conditions:
* Based in Warrington with regular travel across the UK.
* Occasional on-call for urgent safety or compliance matters.
