We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Specialty Doctor in Care of the Elderly on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful department.
Our client's department of Care of the Elderly currently comprises three complex care wards and intermediate care and nurse-led wards. These are in close proximity to the department's office accommodation and out-patient department. There are good multidisciplinary links. The Department of Care of the Elderly is dedicated to providing a seamless service to Older People and is working towards the achievement of goals and recommendations. The post is a Specialty Doctor post in Care of the Elderly and will be part of a team of Consultant, Middle Grade, FY2/CT and FY1 grades. Recently, in 2020 the Care Quality Commission rated us as 'Good' overall, and 'Outstanding' for being caring and effective. The Trust launched its ambitious 'Building for our Future' programme, which aims to repair, redevelop and expand their hospitals, transforming the environment in which they provide care for generations to come.
The successful appointee will be asked to fulfil various duties, such as:
1. Work closely with the medical and nursing teams on all the wards as well as CCU, Path Lab and Radiology Department.
2. Support the Foundation and Core trainees in attending both emergency and elective admissions.
3. Treat ward patients in consultation with senior staff.
4. Review ward patients daily and maintain progress notes.
5. Attend resuscitation training and participate as a member of the cardiac arrest team.
6. Participate in the rotation through the local intermediate care rehabilitation unit.
7. Commit to the improvement of quality of clinical care in the Clinical Unit and participate in incident reporting, risk management and Clinical Unit Governance Meetings.
8. Participate in clinical teaching of undergraduate and junior medical staff within their supporting Professional Activities as required by the Clinical Unit.
9. Actively participate in audit.
Our client's location provides the best of both worlds, with high-quality housing and schools, a thriving restaurant and theatre scene, excellent transport links to London, and a beautiful south-east coast with a great rural outdoors area.
