Waterfoot Medical Practice are looking to recruit a part time (minimum of 6 sessions) newly qualified salaried GP to join our friendly and progressive practice.

We are a large GP training practice, serving a population of over 9,300 patients. Based in the Rossendale Valley and only 40 minutes from central Manchester, Waterfoot Medical Practice is surrounded by beautiful open countryside. Rossendale boasts a range of local amenities, offers excellent Ofsted rated schools and has convenient and flexible commuter connections nearby.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking a caring and committed newly qualified doctor who can demonstrate high standards of clinical care and is willing to work as part of a highly motivated multidisciplinary team.
In return, you will be well supported by our experienced GPs, encouraged to develop any clinical special interests and participate in supervision and teaching.
Job responsibilities
The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
As a General Practitioner (GP), you will provide high-quality, patient-centred care while working as part of a multidisciplinary team. This role is ideal for a recently qualified GP, offering the opportunity to develop your clinical skills and confidence in a supportive environment.
You will manage a range of acute and chronic conditions, participate in health promotion and contribute to team-based care plans, with appropriate supervision.
The post encourages professional growth through regular feedback, mentoring and opportunities for further training in line with early-career development.
The GP will undertake a variety of duties governed by the GMS contract and objectives of Enhanced services including:
* In person/telephone consultations
* Visiting patients at home/in nursing homes
* Checking/signing repeat prescriptions
* Queries, paperwork, correspondence & clinical admin as required
* Working closely with PCN and practice teams
* Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems
* Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
* Cover all clinical management of patients in surgery as appropriate
* Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients
* Appropriate follow up of patients
* Record clear and contemporaneous computerised consultation notes
* Participate in clinical audits, learning event analyses and practice meetings
* Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions
* Prescribe generically whenever appropriate
* Work with/provide support for other members of the primary health care team
* Play a lead role in the practice achieving agreed/other key performance indicator targets
In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* A medical practitioner whose name is included in the General Practitioner Register
* Not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983
* Qualified GP with full GMC registration licence to practice, on a performers list Newly Qualified General Practitioner
* Eligible to be on a performers list and not suspended from that list or from the medical register
* DBS clearance
* Current registration with the GMC and appropriate membership of a recognised medical defence organisation
* MRCGP
* Evidence of CPD activities
Experience
* Recent experience of working in general practice in the UK
* Commitment to and experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary and skill mixed team environment
* Evidence of independent working in General Practice
* Experience of supporting service change
* Evidence of participation in Audit
* Experience of working to achieve standards within the Quality and Outcome Framework (QOF)
