Band 6 Immunisation Midwife
We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated experienced Band 6 Midwife who has the passion to provide kind, safe and personalised midwifery care, acting as an advocate for women and their families.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our newly developed team of midwives to provide a robust maternity immunisation service, including but not limited to RSV, Influenza, Pertussis and Covid vaccinations. Part-time hours and flexible working terms will be considered in line with our policies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Please note the work is carried out across multiple sites. The role involves working Monday - Friday.
NMC registration is a mandatory requirement for this role.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be part of the Public Health Agenda with a focus to maximise the uptake of the vaccinations within the immunisation programme and provide protection to our service users and families.
They will work within the team to provide a service to meet the needs of our population whilst working collaboratively with the Antenatal Clinic and community midwifery teams.
Participate in clinical effectiveness audit and evaluations.
Job responsibilities
1. To provide individualised specialist advice and immunisation services to our service users.
2. Participate and facilitate training at mandatory study days for maternity staff.
3. Making accountable decisions based on knowledge and experience in respect of patient care.
4. Ensure accurate data input and collection for measuring outcomes.
5. Promote and participate in the uptake and delivery of the midwifery led immunisation programme.
6. Act as a role model, sharing effective practice and learning from others, promoting a high standard of safe and effective care which is based upon the best evidence.
7. Contribute to service delivery and innovation, ensuring that the service is delivered in line with local, national and trust standards.
8. To participate in audit, risk management, quality, practice and education initiatives to drive and support the implementation of change as necessary.

Planning and Organisational Duties
1. Act as an autonomous practitioner within the immunisation team and wider midwifery team.
2. Recognise and respond appropriately to issues which require urgent or immediate attention, reporting to other members of the multidisciplinary management team as necessary.
3. Keep up to date with developments in midwifery practice, incorporating national and local recommendations in all elements of care.
Communications and Key Working Relationships
1. Provide and receive complex, sensitive information between the women, their partners and with all the MDT.
2. Communicate with senior managers, staff, women and their partners with empathy, persuasion and reassurance.
3. Utilise alternative methods of communication such as interpreter services, to aid understanding and meet additional communication needs.
4. Escalate any concerns to the Midwifery Leadership team in relation to the care of the women and their families.
5. Attend departmental meetings where appropriate, supporting evaluation of changes within midwifery practice.
Responsibility for Finance
1. To be aware of resources and provide high quality, cost effective care.
2. Monitor and support processes related to the supply of consumables to ensure minimum stock levels are maintained and issues escalated.
3. Participate in stock rotation to prevent unnecessary waste.
Responsibility for Teaching
1. Identify own training and development needs.
2. To participate and facilitate maternity training sessions alongside the maternity education team for all grades of staff.

Qualifications
Essential
1. Registered Midwife Current NMC registration.
2. Evidence of recent relevant professional development & acquisition of midwifery competencies.
3. Educated to degree level.
Desirable
1. Mentorship qualification or demonstrable experience.
2. Public Health qualification or recognised study day.
Knowledge
Essential
1. Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues.
2. Evidence of clinical and professional expertise acquired through CPD and experience.
3. Demonstrate knowledge of NHS maternity vaccination programme.
4. Understanding of statutory training requirements.
