We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team. This role offers an opportunity to work on exciting projects, supporting cost management, estimating, and project scope definition. You will play a key part in ensuring financial control and smooth project execution while collaborating with clients, subcontractors, and project managers.
Key responsibilities:
* Assist in contract administration, reviewing agreements, managing variations, and ensuring compliance.
* Monitor and manage project costs, keeping them within budget.
* Conduct site visits and valuations to verify work scope and assess costs.
* Prepare accurate valuation reports, cash flow forecasts, and cost analyses.
* Support the preparation of tender documents, bid reviews, and the tendering process.
* Assist in negotiating costs with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
* Ensure all cost estimations, invoices, and payment applications are accurate and timely.
* Work closely with project teams to define and manage scope changes and financial impacts.
Requirements:
* 2-3 years of experience.
* Degree or BTEC in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
* Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
* Proficiency in MS Excel and construction software.
* Understanding of construction contracts (e.g., JCT).
* Excellent attention to detail, communication, and organisational skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* A valid UK driving licence is preferred but not essential.
