Due to career progression of our existing staff and developments within our services we have an exciting static opportunity within our respiratory medicine team. We are looking for a Senior Occupational Therapist or a Band 5 ready to progress to a Band 6 to join our respiratory OT team to help us to ensure that we meet the Trust’s vision to provide every patient with the care we want for those we love the most. This post is for 18.75 hours per week.
The post will be based on the acute respiratory ward working alongside both OT and MDT colleagues to implement and deliver a comprehensive OT service including specialist knowledge and education to our respiratory patients. Respiratory knowledge and experience is preferred however not essential and other relevant clinical experience will be considered.
The Occupational Therapy service at NNUH has over 90 members of staff committed to providing high quality patient care across all specialisms. As an autonomous practitioner, you will:
• provide a flexible and comprehensive service to the designated area
• independently carry out specialised assessments and appropriate intervention for our respiratory patients with complex needs incorporating physical, personal and psychological needs in relation to self-care, leisure and productivity
• assess risks relating to the discharge process to ensure a safe and timely discharge of patients to the most appropriate setting
• provide advice and information to patients/carers including instruction and training regarding use of equipment issued
• carry out day to day supervision of qualified and unqualified staff
