Job summary
We are looking to appoint a dynamic and motivated Cognitive Behavioural Therapist to work across our South Durham locality Mental Health Support Teams in Schools (MHST). The post holder will be responsible for both clinical & caseload supervision, leadership to the Senior Childrens Psychological Well-Being Practitioners (CWP's) & Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHP's) alongside delivering CBT interventions at a high-quality level.
They will be a vital part of the development of the Governed Psychological Therapies within the MHSTs. The post holder will be part of the collective leadership of Governed Psychological Therapies and contribute to the development of colleagues in the team. Must be qualified in cognitive behavioural therapy and accredited with BABCP. We also invite applications from qualified CBT Therapists currently in the process of applying for BABCP accreditation. In this case applicants would initially be appointed as a B6 CAMHS CBT Practitioner and supported to achieve full BABCP accreditation within 6 months. Following successful accreditation, the postholder would move the B7 CBT Therapist role.
Applicants without a recognised core professional training & not registered with a professional regulatory body such as HCPC or NMC would need to demonstrate equivalent training and experience in mental health via the Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes (KSA) route and therefore have a portfolio of evidence approved as part of your BABCP accreditation.
Main duties of the job
The MHSTs have a vibrant and passionate multi-agency approach to children and young people's mental health and wellbeing. Starting from the point of maintaining wellbeing and preventing mental ill health is critical to all our work, followed by aspiring to be able to offer effective support at the earliest opportunity if a young person requires it. The team will be working closely with education services offering low-moderate interventions with these placements.
There are 3 functions of the MHST; Evidence based interventions, Whole School Approach, Offering consultations/ advice.

1. Practitioner or First Accreditation as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) BABCP Registration Number AND A qualification that leads to registration with a professional regulatory body (HCPC, GMC, NMC or Social Work England) AND current registration with this professional regulatory body. (If a different regulatory body please seek advice from Chief Psychological Professions Officer)
2. OR A Knowledge Skills Attitude (KSA) equivalence portfolio approved by BABCP as part of your Accreditation as Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) Be able to provide evidence of KSA Approval from HEI or BABCP
