We are seeking an experienced Chemical Procurement Manager to source commodity chemicals, raw materials, and intermediates to support our Pharmaron CMC network. This pivotal role involves negotiating cost-effective purchasing agreements, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring a smooth supply chain for our operations.

Requirements:
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
* BSc in Engineering, Pharmaceutical Technology, Chemistry, Pharmacy, or a related scientific discipline.
* Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS), Level 4 or higher.
* A minimum of 10 years’ experience in procurement within a highly regulated industry.
* In-depth understanding of GMP standards for production, documentation, storage, and handling.
* Commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements.
* Proven expertise in procurement and contract management.
* Experience within the chemical industry.
* Excellent negotiation skills and strong financial acumen for cost control and budgeting.
Desirable:
* Technical chemical knowledge.
* Familiarity with HSE and cGMP standards and requirements.
Key roles and responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure optimal value.
* Source and procure chemicals and materials to support contract manufacturing.
* Identify, qualify, and select suppliers following procurement policies and procedures.
* Obtain competitive raw material quotes to support new product introductions.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely supply of raw materials.
* Resolve raw material supply issues to avoid production disruptions.
* Implement cost-saving initiatives and negotiate pricing adjustments.
* Monitor supplier performance to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
* Manage contracts, pricing terms, payment conditions, and other agreements.
* Ensure adherence to procurement procedures, including purchase orders and invoice approvals.
* Assist in budget preparation and expenditure planning for direct spend items.
* Conduct market research to refine procurement strategies and procedures.

Our Cramlington site, just north of Newcastle, has an established history of cGMP manufacturing services for an array of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), ranging from pilot scale to commercial metric ton scale. The Cramlington Site has more than 100 cubic meters reactor commercial capacity and has been inspected and approved by the MHRA, FDA and other regulatory authorities. The site operates from small scale in the laboratory through to large manufacturing scale. It also offers chemistry and analytical development service.
