Sales & Marketing Director at the BRITISH BOARD OF AGREMENT.
About You:
This role requires a dynamic and results-driven Sales Manager to drive business growth by identifying new opportunities and expanding our client base. The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction product or services market, with an awareness of 3rd party product certification, compliance, or testing services, and a strong track record in B2B sales. You will be responsible for developing and executing sales strategies in your territory working towards sales and activity targets, managing a number of client accounts and working closely with technical and operational teams to deliver value-driven solutions to BBA clients.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:
Business Development & Client Acquisition
1. Identifying potential clients (mainly construction product and system manufacturers) needing product certification.
2. Developing sales strategies to attract new clients and expand the BBA’s market share throughout the sector.
3. Identify product development and sector trends within your territory to spot potential opportunities.
4. Build relationships with key decision-makers in target organisations and industries, including re-building relationships with dormant organisations.
5. Optimise cross-selling of BBA products and service offerings.
6. Managing the sales cycle from pipeline and lead generation to conversion of deals.
7. Maintaining relationships with existing clients to ensure repeat business and upselling or cross-selling opportunities.
8. Negotiating contracts and pricing with clients.
9. Liaising with the commercial team on the development of quotations.
10. Ensuring proactive client service and supporting in addressing client concerns.
11. Ensuring smooth handover of the client’s project from the sales acquisition phase through to the project delivery phase.
Promotion of Certification & Testing Services
1. Educating potential clients on the value-based benefits of certification (e.g., regulatory compliance, market access, consumer trust) as part of the sales cycle.
2. Presenting and explaining the certification process, timelines, and costs.
3. Collaborating with marketing teams to develop promotional materials and campaigns.
Compliance & Technical Knowledge
1. Understanding relevant certification standards (e.g., ISO, CE marking, UL, FCC, etc.) – Training will be provided where required.
2. Staying updated on regulatory changes affecting certification and market trends in product manufacturing.
3. Coordinating with technical teams to ensure accurate certification proposals.
Reporting & Performance Analysis
1. Tracking sales performance and preparing reports for senior management where required.
2. Setting sales targets and ensuring they are met or exceeded.
3. Analysing client feedback and market trends to improve sales strategies.
4. Use Dynamics 365 CRM to record traction in pipeline and sales activity.
Coordination with Internal Teams
1. Working with marketing, commercial, technical services, operations, and client service teams to ensure smooth certification processes and experience for the client.
2. Collaborating with finance teams on invoicing and payment follow-ups when required.
3. Supporting internal audits related to sales and client management.
4. Attend weekly sales and monthly commercial review meetings.
5. Represent organisation at trade exhibitions, events, and demonstrations.
6. Prepare and deliver presentations to clients, potential clients, trade associations and other relevant organisations.
General Responsibilities
1. Promote and adhere to all BBA policies and actively promote the BBA wherever possible.
2. Responsible for your own Health and Safety and that of your colleagues and others on the BBA premises in accordance with relevant health and safety legislation and the BBA H&S manual.
3. Carry out tasks broadly similar to those in this job description.

3. Some knowledge of product manufacturing, construction sector, or 3rd party certification and regulations.
4. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with strong negotiation skills.
5. Experience working directly or indirectly in a UKAS accredited and/or product development/R&D environment.
