JOB PURPOSE,
Work closely with the Area Transport Manager on training, recruitment and compliance. You would do this by carrying out driving assessments, training, inducting and supporting other drivers. You would also deliver bagged aggregates to our customers in a timely and professional manner. To comply with EU drivers' hours and Working Time Directive for mobile workers. Must be able to work across multiple sites.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES,
In addition to your normal Driving responsibilities, you will be required to -
* To assist the operations with training and recruitment.
* To check the safety and condition of the vehicles according to company policy. To record its condition using the electronic system provided and to promptly report any faults as they occur.
* To care for the company's assets whilst in his/her charge and ensure they are used according to manufacturer's recommendations ensuring effective long-term performance.
* To ensure the vehicle is securely loaded and restrained and that the vehicle weights are within the legally permitted limits.
* To drive as efficiently and productively as possible but to do so within the prevailing road traffic law.
* To give due consideration to the health and safety of self, the public and other road users always.
* To always represent the company both on the road and at the customers' premises in a professional and considerate manner and to report promptly any matters likely to affect the company's business prospects.
* To assist in yard and other duties as may be required when not driving or taking legally required breaks.
* To complete reports and documentations to time and as accurately as possible to assist in the management of the business.
* To contribute to the wellbeing and profitability of the business as far as it depends upon him/her.
* Drive your vehicle in accordance with your current job description and the needs of your local depot.
* To work with the Area Transport Manager and assist with new driver inductions and assessments.
* Assist where required with training to ensure all drivers are achieving the best possible standard of driving.
* Be mobile (van provided) to cover short notice sickness, absence, inductions, and assessments.
* Have the flexibility to go from site to site.
* Complete driver inductions and assessments in any location.
* Proficient in explaining all the company systems and procedures a driver will need to use.
* Complete assessment training records and submit them to the Area Transport Manager.
* Make sure all relevant E - documents have been filled in and submitted to the Area Transport Manager.
* Responsibility for compliance and discharging legal duties with regards to HR and Health & Safety to promote a safe, equitable and legally compliant work place.
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB,
* Must live in the Midlands area and be able to work across multiple sites.
* 18 months experience as a HGV Class 1 Driver.
* Previous experience in operating tipper bodies is required.
* Drivers CPC Card.
* Valid Tachograph Card.
* Experience with training other drivers.
* Good Knowledge of the Driver's Hours, WTD, and legal obligations surrounding the transport industry.
