Job Description: Forensic Healthcare Practitioner
Location: Telford, United Kingdom
Shift Pattern: 4 shifts on, 4 shifts off (inclusive of weekends and bank holidays)
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Forensic Healthcare Practitioner to join our service in Telford. In this pivotal role, you will provide healthcare and forensic services to individuals in custody, ensuring high standards of care, dignity, and professionalism are maintained.

Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality healthcare assessments, treatment, and interventions to individuals in custody.
* Conduct forensic examinations in accordance with legal and professional guidelines.
* Obtain and document forensic evidence, including DNA samples and injury documentation, to support criminal investigations.
* Manage the physical and mental health needs of detainees, including providing medications, addressing urgent care needs, and offering emotional support.
* Work closely with law enforcement and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the safety and welfare of all individuals in custody.
* Maintain accurate, detailed records in compliance with legal, ethical, and professional standards.
* Participate in health promotion activities, including mental health and substance misuse education.
* Adhere to clinical governance frameworks and contribute to quality assurance initiatives.
Skills and QualificationsEssential:
* Professional Registration: Registered General Nurse (RGN), Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN), or Paramedic with current NMC/HCPC registration.
* Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years post-qualification experience in an acute, emergency, or forensic healthcare setting.
* Knowledge: Awareness of safeguarding procedures, mental health, substance misuse, and legal frameworks.
* Skills: Strong communication, clinical decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
Desirable:
* Experience working in custody or forensic environments.
* Qualification in forensic medicine or custody healthcare (or willingness to undertake training).
* Advanced Life Support (ALS) or Mental Health First Aid certification.
