About the Opportunity
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Site Engineer to join our Industrial Biomass team at our site in Stowmarket to undertake planned and reactive maintenance on biomass steam heating systems and associated equipment including routine maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and repair works as required.

The role will involve:
1. Undertaking planned maintenance, attendance, testing, and record keeping ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and industry good practice governing LTHW, steam, feed water quality, biomass combustion and records of inspections, maintenance routines and repairs including photographic records including Written Scheme Examinations.
2. Facilitating the biomass fuel supply to the site, receiving deliveries, testing and recording results, and handling fuel onto the walking floor system where required utilising a tele-handler.
3. Ensuring optimal and continuous operation of mechanical systems by performing routine inspections and maintenance, monitoring metering equipment and adjusting levels as necessary.
4. Ensuring accurate and detailed report and record keeping of fuel supply, maintenance, testing, and HSEQ incidents; risk assessments and auditing, via our online HSEQ and service management systems.
5. Monitoring feed water and emissions quality.
6. Ensuring a high level of health and safety management on site, encouraging a strong health and safety culture and adherence with legislation and Company policies, including conducting regular audits and completing risk assessments and method statements.
7. Liasing on site with the client’s engineering and maintenance teams and maintain excellent level of communication and working relationship on site as required.
What we are looking for:
With demonstrable experience of carrying out frontline mechanical and/or electrical maintenance & repairs our successful candidate will also have the following knowledge, skills and experience:
1. HSEQ operator level training (e.g. safety passport/CSCS card), and training on completing site risk assessment/method statements.
2. Completed Boiler operation accreditation scheme (BOAS) qualification for steam operator level.
3. Mechanical/Engineering educational qualification (C&G, HNC, NVQ or equivalent).
4. Experience in working on heat and steam generating plant and equipment within large industrial sites with a continual heat demand and LTHW and steam systems including pumps, valves, hydraulics, controls.
5. Familiarity with DCS/BMS controls and CMMS systems.
6. Experience in working with biomass boilers and with biomass fuel.
7. A critical thinker, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

The site operates 7 days a week (8am to 5pm) and the role will require weekend working, and out of hours on call, on a rota/shift pattern respond to heating outages, loss of service or emergencies as required. This will also include periodic remote performance monitoring of the system during out of hours periods by the on-call engineer.
Hours of Work
Normal working hours 8am to 5pm with 1-hour unpaid break each day.
Average of 40 paid hours per week (excluding breaks).
Annualised hours 2,080 per annum.
Annualised hours start date 1st January each year.
Shift Pattern
1st week, Mon-Sun 08:00-17:00.
2nd week, Wed-Fri 08:00-17:00.
3rd week, Mon-Fri 08:00-17:00.
Onboarding
