About the role
The Central Sterilising Department (CSSD) Team Leader will be responsible for leading a team of CSSD Technicians in the reprocessing of reusable surgical instruments for the Operating Theatre and outlying services.
You will:
1. Demonstrate excellence in your own skills, ability to organise own and other workloads and have a ‘hands on’ approach
2. Ensure service offered is client driven, safe, prompt and courteous with attention to details
3. Monitor and develop clinical standards within the department and initiate change where this is indicated in consultation with the Theatre Services Manager
4. Manage staff according to hospital policy and procedure, creating a positive and proactive work environment
5. Implement specific orientation/in-service and teach/coaching of staff in consultation with the Theatre Services Manager
This is a permanent position for 80 hours per fortnight and is located at Royston Hospital in Hawkes Bay.

You will be an excellent team leader and be able to organise and utilise personnel and supplies efficiently. Furthermore, you will be committed to delivering the highest standards to ensure patient safety.
You will also demonstrate and have the following skills and experiences:
6. Minimum NZQA level 3 Sterilising certificate or equivalent experience preferred
7. Current NZSSA SSD Registration certificate
8. Demonstrate leadership experience
9. Knowledge of assembly and disassembly, assessing functionality of surgical instruments
10. Knowledge of Sterilising machinery and an ability to troubleshoot machinery issues preferred
