Assess the radiation protection and imaging performance aspects of all new radiological imaging equipment, as part of the commissioning process. Evaluate the long term performance of highly complex radiological imaging equipment such as CT scanners. Acquire and maintain knowledge of radiographic equipment and radiographic techniques throughout the district in so far as they affect radiation dose and / or image quality. Monitor & advise on the QC programmes of various clients. Lead in regular audits of radiation doses to patients and assist in setting local Diagnostic Reference Levels, as required by The Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposure) Regulations. To participate in utilising the Dorset dose management system (DMS) to analyse radiation doses from routine clinical radiology and to take a lead in appropriate optimisation work through multi-disciplinary teams. To lead in incidences investigations advising on CQC/HSE notification requirements and assisting in investigations where appropriate.
