Senior Chartered Landscape Architect – BRISTOL/CARDIFF

We have a strong pipeline of work as a national landscape practice across all sectors, we are looking to recruit Landscape Architects across the UK to join our team. Depending on your level of experience, you will have the opportunity to take a leading role on a large variety of challenging design projects across the UK. You will collaborate with national and international multi-disciplinary design teams, using your insight and creativity to generate positive, sustainable, impactful designs. AtkinsRéalis have an exciting opportunity for a talented and enthusiastic Chartered Senior Landscape Architect to join our team in the south west from a base in either our Bristol or Cardiff offices.
We're on the lookout for a skilled and passionate Chartered Senior Landscape Architect who has successfully completed their Chartership and showcases a strong background in the field.
In our region we deliver a diverse portfolio of high-profile landscape, public realm and environmentally focussed projects for the public and private sectors that include, Churchill Way Cardiff, Haverfordwest High School Pembrokeshire, Plymouth History Centre, Salisbury Riverside Park and multiple flood alleviation schemes across the Southwest region.
We are looking for people with a design flair and good written capabilities to support project delivery from feasibility through to construction. You will have a proactive can do attitude and demonstrate an innovative approach, have high quality presentation and communication skills, and confidence in undertaking site surveys, design and assessment and writing technical reports. We thrive on turning our hand to every part of our profession.
We are looking for good interpersonal skills, fluency in English, and an ability to work in a stimulating multidisciplinary environment as part of an integrated team with an inquisitive approach to work.
You will need to demonstrate the following capabilities and experience:
1. Taking responsibility for project workload within a team.
2. Working within a multidisciplinary environment.
3. Landscape Design, supporting projects from feasibility through to detail design.
4. An understanding of the principles of SuDS.
5. Ability to support contract documentation and site supervision.
6. LVIA in accordance with the latest best practice guidance, planning process and EIA.
7. Technical knowledge, high-quality presentation and communication skills.
8. Familiarity with working in a quality assurance environment.
9. Understanding of and demonstrable experience in BIM.
Responsibilities:
10. Design input to a range of projects, including schools, rail, road, flood infrastructure, public realm and urban regeneration.
11. Preparation of Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments.
12. Preparation of tender responses.
13. Provision of landscape advice to external and internal clients.
14. An understanding of project management, including the financial management of projects.
15. Resource allocation in liaison with the landscape senior leadership team.
16. Mentoring of junior staff.
Requirements:
17. A relevant landscape degree.
18. Chartered membership of the Landscape Institute.
19. Relevant years post chartership experience in a Landscape role, ideally in both the public and private sectors.
20. Experience in the management and delivery of multi-disciplinary projects, particularly in the sectors of schools, transport, flood infrastructure and urban regeneration.
21. Excellent project management skills for multi-disciplinary projects.
22. Experience and knowledge of Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment to varying methodologies i.e. GLVIA 3, DMRB.
23. Proven ability to manage budgets.
24. Consultancy experience is an advantage, as is a need to demonstrate commercial expertise.
25. Competent in AutoCAD and Adobe software packages with a passion to explore the use of Revit, Sketch Up and Enscape used as a design tool and for presentational outputs.
26. Experience and an understanding of BIM.
27. Communication through hand drawing invaluable.
The successful applicant must be flexible and self-motivated and be expected to demonstrate the following:
28. Good communication skills, with ability to draft reports to a high standard.
29. Ability to work under pressure, and have proven success in meeting tight deadlines.
30. Confident team worker, but able to work with limited supervision.
31. Commercial awareness and business development skills.
32. The opportunity to work both locally and within our national business to win and deliver work and with these opportunities there will be a requirement for flexibility in respect of travel and location based on project demands.
Applicants must hold a full valid driving licence and live within a reasonable travelling distance to one of our offices. Site visits across the region will be required.
