The role
We are looking for a dynamic individual who can combine excellent campaign, analytical and policy development experience with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate the RCPsych in Scotland's views on a wide range of complex policy areas. Working with the National Manager, College Officers, Leads, Devolved Council and committees, you will develop, influence and deliver the RCPsych in Scotland's policy. You will need to be able to demonstrate experience of working effectively with internal and external stakeholders to maximise the College's influence.
You will be joining a highly-regarded and influential organisation which has a strong track record of utilising our members’ expertise and experience to be a critical actor in the Scottish mental health landscape. This includes progressing the cross-party commitments gained through our award-winning 2021 ‘No Wrong Door’ election manifesto and the Choose Psychiatry in Scotland campaign.
Flexibility and self-reliance are essential. The successful candidate will have a proven record of working in a busy and complex environment in a policy and/or public affairs role and will be passionate about achieving change and improving the lives of people with mental illness. You will have strong interpersonal skills, robust research and analysis capabilities and will have had experience of developing and delivering policy and public affairs advocacy strategies. Experience in assimilating complex information and writing influential reports and briefings is desirable, as is a demonstrable knowledge of the Scottish policy making process.
