Salary: £35,116 to £45,413 per annum (pro rata)

The Role
As part of its strategy to provide a world-class student education and experience, the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics (MSP) is looking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic Lecturer in Mathematical Sciences with a remit for the development and delivery of technology-enhanced learning.
Through our world-renowned Digital Learning Unit [https://www.ncl.ac.uk/maths-physics/engagement/digital-learning/] we integrate innovative technologies for e-assessment and digital content; for example, the open-source e-assessment software Numbas which is used around the world in academia, schools and companies.
You will work within the MSP Digital Learning Unit to maintain and develop digital assessment content for automated assessment of assignments and exams in the School of MSP and beyond.
The role is fixed term (one year) and part time (0.5 FTE).
Key Accountabilies
* Work within the School of MSP’s Digital Learning Unit to develop online assessments for mathematical subjects, using the Numbas software
* Support other initiatives in the Digital Learning Unit’s portfolio
* Undertake teaching in mathematical sciences, with a focus on delivery using digital tools developed by the Digital Learning Unit
* Contribute to the general life and work of the School of MSP, including helping to foster the academic community, being a good colleague, and contributing to the organisational and academic management of the school
* Carry out administrative duties as assigned by the Head of School and the School Executive Board

The Person
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* Experience in delivering excellent teaching in the mathematical sciences
* Experience in designing new taught content, assessments and/or approaches to delivery
* Demonstrable expertise in mathematical or statistical software (e.g. R, Python)
* Experience of using digital content in teaching, such as mathematical/statistical software or web-based material
* Experience of creating online assessments

Qualifications
* PhD in Mathematical Sciences or a closely related discipline
