SENIOR DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS, Dean for Student Life, will be the primary writer for the Vice Chancellor for Student Life and responsible for crafting and editing correspondence for key stakeholders: students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Responsibilities include:
1. Developing executive-level communications such as letters, emails, video scripts, media statements, and presentations.
2. Representing DSL among campus Communications leaders and supporting requests from the Chancellor’s Office.
3. Ensuring alignment with Institute-level messaging.
4. Managing campus emergency communications and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy.
5. Consistently presenting DSL’s goals and achievements across channels such as emails, websites, videos, and social media.
6. Managing DSL’s website, supporting stewardship efforts, and assisting with speaking engagements and presentations.
7. Building strong relationships with Communications leaders across MIT to collaboratively tell the story of student life.
8. Consulting with DSL department leaders on Communications initiatives and leading a DSL Communicators group for coordination and consistency throughout the division.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree with at least 7 years of experience; reliable writing, communication, and collaboration skills; expertise in communications strategy, web technology, Microsoft Office, G-Suite, and multitasking in dynamic environments. Job #24393-11
This position has a hybrid work schedule, with both remote and on-campus work. Exact hybrid schedule to be determined according to departmental needs.
Salary range is $140k-$170K, exact offer dependent on experience and equity.
