Senior Manufacturing Engineer Louth As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a vital role in designing, organizing, and continuously improving our factory and production processes. You will apply your knowledge of manufacturing principles, lean strategies, and design to streamline workflows, enhance efficiency, and ensure that our production environment adheres to top standards of safety, quality, and productivity. This position demands a solid understanding of manufacturing operations, material flow, equipment usage, design, and ergonomic principles. Responsibilities Develop and implement optimal factory layouts to improve material flow using Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen and other Six Sigma tools to minimize waste, and enhance production efficiency. Specify and integrate new equipment and technologies to enhance production capabilities and capacity by utilising CAD, CNC, AutoCAD/Solidworks/Pro-E (Creo) to create detailed layouts, models, and simulations of the factory environment. Work closely with R&D and product development teams to ensure Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles are incorporated into new product designs. Lead the transition of new products from development to production, ensuring a smooth and efficient launch process. Ensure all risk assessments are carried out thoroughly and maintained effectively. Supporting investigations on LTI, near misses and other safety incidents. Continuously work on engineering solutions to reduce risk in the production processes. Analyze existing production lines to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement. Implement lean manufacturing principles, such as 5S, value stream mapping, and Kaizen Support and lead root cause analysis (RCCA) initiatives to address production or quality issues. Contribute to the development and implementation of a visual production system consistent with the Cargotec Production System. Identify and implement continuous improvement projects to enhance line performance, reduce downtime, and improve overall efficiency. Provide technical guidance and support to operations and engineering teams on manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling. Develop and implement systems for monitoring and analyzing equipment performance to maximize reliability and availability. Maintain strong working relationships with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Quality, Operations, and Maintenance. Lead the training and implementation of lean manufacturing tools and concepts. Qualifications Degree level in Mechanical Engineering / Industrial Engineering 5 years minimum experience of Industrial Manufacturing Engineering Working knowledge and understanding of mechanical, electrics/electronics, assembly work, work instructions and safe working practices. Proficiency in CAD programs with the ability to design and develop solutions using 3D modelling / 2D drawings. Experience in the use of DMADV and tools part Proven track record of implementing process improvement initiatives and driving operational excellence. Ability to work in a highly variably product mix environment, with the ability to handle multiple tasks with high quality and timeliness standards. Lean Six Sigma Green belt essential.
