My client is a small family-run agricultural business known in the commercial growing industry. They are currently looking for a skilled and motivated Maintenance Fitter to maintain and service their machines and keep the factory, workshop, and packing room running smoothly.
The Role - Maintenance Fitter
1. Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of farm machinery and equipment such as tractors, harvesters, irrigation systems, and conveyors.
2. Perform scheduled servicing and preventive maintenance to avoid breakdowns and prolong the lifespan of the equipment.
3. Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs.
4. Troubleshoot issues with engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems, and replace defective parts as necessary.
5. Ensure that machinery is used correctly and safely by all operators.
6. Fabricate or modify parts and equipment using welding, cutting, and machining tools.
7. Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used.
8. Follow and develop TPM/PPM schedules for all equipment.
9. Work closely with farm managers and other staff to coordinate maintenance activities and minimise downtime.
10. Participate in daily meetings to align on the duties for the day ahead.
Minimum Skills / Experience Required - Maintenance Fitter
1. Previous experience as a Maintenance Fitter with a mechanical bias.
2. Hands-on experience with chains, bearings, and conveyors.
3. Experience in repairing, servicing, or maintaining agricultural, plant, manufacturing, or industrial machinery.
4. Experience as an Agricultural Engineer would be advantageous.
5. Strong background in PPM schedules and developing them.
6. Qualifications within maintenance and engineering are desirable.
7. Good communication skills both written and verbal.

1. Salary up to £45,760 per annum.
2. 40 hr working week with frequent overtime available.
3. Use of company van.
