Work with the Practice Pharmacist to provide a Medicine Management Service and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
To act as a focal point of communication between the GPs, pharmacist, receptionist, practice manager, patients and local chemist, as well as other members of the primary health care team, to ensure patients' repeat medication is produced within the current protocols of the surgery.
Main duties of the job
* To process all repeat medication requests (electronic and paper) sent in by patients in accordance with Practice guidelines.
* To process all repeat medication requests from the surgery NHS Mail box at least twice daily.
* To collect and process repeat prescription requests from the fax machine, post box, and reception.
* To process all nomad medication requests electronically.
* To liaise with patients and chemists regarding queries and requests.
* To ensure that patient queries on medication are highlighted to the relevant Pharmacist (either Community or Practice).
* Initiating contact with and responding to prescribing requests from patients, other team members, and associated healthcare agencies and providers.
* To regularly go through prescriptions not picked up and unlikely to be picked up as a result of the timescale, to detail in the patient records and then destroy the prescription (2 months old).
* To adhere to the Death protocol.
* Be aware of monitoring requirements for selected drugs and follow up required monitoring with patients. Ensure appropriate health checks and medication reviews are undertaken.
* Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with Practice procedures.
* Establish and maintain filing and administrative systems so that written or computerized information is easily accessible and secure.

We are a friendly GP Practice based in the heart of Poulton Town Centre. We have a patient base of approximately 9K patients and have a multidisciplinary team within the surgery offering specialty appointments including minor ops clinics and in-house physiotherapists.

Experience
* In order for applications to be considered, applicants must have had previous pharmacy dispensing experience, ideally in a GP Practice.
