As a Maintenance Electrician, you will undertake duties associated with the maintenance and repair of electrical installations and associated equipment together with routine activities across the site.
What you’ll be doing
- Perform routine, planned and reactive machine maintenance and repair activities to a range of machine tools, associated plant and equipment, buildings and site facilities.
- Work on a range of machine control systems including Fanuc, Siemans, Mazatrol.
- Undertake installation, fault finding and repair activities.
- Work with servo drives and motors.
- Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Work to required quality standards and procedures.
- Interpret engineering/electrical drawings and circuit diagrams and work with imperial and metric measures to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Work as part of a team and interface with other departments including production and procurement.
- Appreciation of quality improvement techniques and initiatives.
- Manual handling as required to load, unload and manoeuvre materials and equipment.
- Operating access platforms including scissor lifts and cherry pickers.
- Operate computer system for recording of work activities.
- Support training of apprentices and trainees.
- Have a flexible approach to work activities including working throughout the site, on a wide range of machine and locations and working shifts as required to meet operational needs.
- Promote a safe working environment by directly challenging or reporting unsafe or environmentally damaging practices and hazardous working conditions.
- Be observant at all times and where applicable make suggestions on health, safety and environmental improvements that can or should be made.
- Support environmental sustainability initiatives within the company such as segregating waste and switching off electrical equipment where appropriate and not in use
Who we’re looking for
To apply, we ask that you must be a time served electrician with 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and IPAF licence. You will have experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment and have an electrical background with a good working knowledge of PLCs.
With the ability to work under pressure and a flexible approach to work, we are looking for someone who can work alone as well as someone who can work as part of a team. Interfacing with other departments, suppliers, contractors and manufacturers, and setting an example to our apprentices is a key part of the role.
