The University's Facilities Management function provide a critical service to ensure that students, staff, visitors and prospective students have an excellent and memorable experience of our physical environment. We have an exceptional opportunity for an outstanding Maintenance Services Manager who will ensure that our campus sites remain safe, secure and vibrant and in the best possible condition. As part of the highly regarded Estates department, you will lead a very capable in-house team, manage a multitude of contracts and contractors and be allocated a budget appropriate to the task.
With your positive mindset, you will see this role as an opportunity to evolve your significant career experience in maintenance/engineering leadership roles across similar large scale, operational property portfolios, and to contribute through your track record of performance improvement in the areas of maintenance and estate compliance. You are a leader who is a natural collaborator and communicator (including listener) with excellent stakeholder management skills and a customer-focussed approach.
With a new Vice-Chancellor arriving this summer, we expect to start work to refresh our organisational strategy and similarly our plans for the Estate Development out to and beyond. You will contribute to the strategy formulation and play a pivotal role implementing it as our Maintenance specialist. You will have a passion for sustainability and understand the need to address climate change and ecological concerns to manage the Estate in line with our sector-leading policies. You will similarly have an attention to detail with particular emphasis on Health & Safety, financial and contractual matters. Helping us to evolve our culture of trust and support, you will enjoy a degree of autonomy, be encouraged to be innovative and creative, not least with respect to finding legitimate efficiencies.
We are committed to inspiring and developing our employees and recognise that benefits, both financial and non-financial, are an important and valuable aspect of the reward package. We have lots to offer including a competitive salary, flexibility, good holiday entitlement (38 days including bank holidays and discretionary leave for our winter closure), a generous defined benefit pension scheme to which BU makes a valuable contribution worth 19.5% (of your pensionable pay). By joining BU you will be provided with opportunities in your personal and professional development to help you thrive and achieve your full potential.
