Job title: Principal Electrical Design Engineer

Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 per annum

A leading provider of high-end consulting and engineering services for projects worldwide is looking for a Principal Electrical Design Engineer. They combine the resources of a global, multibillion dollar company with local, client-focused delivery in more than 400 locations around the world.
You will be responsible for all aspects of design in the delivery of electrical consultancy services for a portfolio of projects. You will have the passion and drive to deliver and manage projects in accordance with the clients brief and programme, and to help develop good client relationships. You should be capable of managing your own workload and the workload of others, updating forward plans of workload regularly & working to time allocations.
What you'll be doing as Principal Electrical Design Engineer:
1. Production and review of detailed calculations for all aspects of electrical design.
2. Production of specifications and plant schedules.
3. Production of notes, basis of design and RIBA stage reports showing compliance with standards and best practice.
4. Production of drawings from conception through to detailed design.
5. Conducting detailed site surveys and inspection of installations.
6. Mentoring and guidance of junior to intermediate team members.
7. Input into fee estimates and bid process.
8. Support associates and director with resource planning and managing team workload.
9. Holds (or meet the criteria to hold) security clearance to MOD SC level.
We're looking for a Principal Electrical Design Engineer with:
1. Ideally you will have an accredited Building Services /Electrical Engineering degree or higher educational qualification.
2. Experience and Knowledge of UK based Projects and Legislation within the sector.
3. Ideally Chartered engineer or working towards membership.
4. The skill set and passion for engineering with the ability to manage and deliver building services engineering designs across a range of sectors.
5. Experience in project lead and delivery of electrical services across multiple projects, as part of a multi-discipline team.
6. Experience in a range of digital tools including AutoCAD, AutoDesk Revit, Dialux, Relux, Amtech, NBS and Microsoft packages.
7. Proven ability to develop designs conscious of energy conservation, sustainability and with a knowledge basis of renewable technologies.
8. The ability to be fully conversant with technical and legislation requirements for electrical services equipment and installation design and management.
9. The ability to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions on developing the discipline design elements, act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way.
10. Consulting closely with other professionals, including structural engineers, architects, surveyors, and contractors of in-house and external project teams.
11. Experience of producing and supporting fee estimates and bid writing would be beneficial.
12. Experience in managing and mentoring junior to intermediate engineers.
