The Role
The production planner is responsible for delivering the most effective production plan for the business, working with the sales and production departments to ensure that customer demand and finished goods stock targets are met.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Utilise systems to translate sales forecasts into achievable production plans that optimally balance customer service and operational efficiency whilst supporting stock categorisation targets.
* Continually review and manage the production plan, maintaining the agreed plan horizon on all presses.
* Regularly review FG demand and manipulate the production plan, resolving potential supply issues where possible.
* Proactively communicate with supply chain, operations, and sales teams, advising of FG availability against demand and highlighting any potential shortfalls.
* Raise all work orders, BOMs, and concessions ensuring timely completion with zero disruption to production plan adherence and efficiencies.
* Regularly check material availability to press, calling in from 3rd party warehouses where needed, in a timely manner.
* Data accuracy and document control is a pivotal part of the role; you will provide accurate production plans and reports accordingly.
* Assist NPD with all trials, ensuring relevant documentation is available and correct.
* Support cost-saving initiatives and production efficiency improvements.
* Review departmental procedures and implement new ones where improvements can be found.
* Have a basic understanding of the Material Planner role and assist when required.
About You
* Significant production planning experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Desired Experience
* Manufacturing experience within the Food Packaging Industry.
* Ideally holding or currently studying for a relevant professional qualification and having a keen interest/experience in a career in Supply Chain.
