Example of shift times are 07:00am-14:30pm, 14:30pm – 22:00pm, 07:00am-22:00pm, and 22:00pm – 07:00am Sleep in. Our Rotas are organised 4 weeks in advance so you can plan your social life well ahead.
Experience is preferred; however, it is not essential as we offer full training and a safe induction. We are looking for people who share our values:

Our Service & The People We Support
Are you a person who likes variety in their work, knowing each day will be different from the last? Our Bishopthorpe service is a six-bed bungalow, supporting two females and four males between the ages of 25-80 years. They require a patient staff team who are enthusiastic, caring, and compassionate.
The people we support at our service all lead very sociable lives. They love to go out into the community regularly and enjoy day trips. They are very creative and enjoy arts and crafts sessions daily, with all their hard work displayed around the home. The people we support choose a range of activities they enjoy, such as trips to the seaside for fish and chips, cinema and theatre visits, and outings to the farm and zoo. We also have one particular person who has a passion for trains.
What does a Support Worker do?
Working for Mencap, you will be expected to provide an outstanding service that offers a more comfortable, dignified, liberated, and happy life for the people we support.
1. Personal care: Support with daily readiness, including showering, dressing, and medication administration.
2. Supporting independence: Assistance with budget management, paying bills, housework, organizing appointments, and cooking healthy meals.
3. Communication skills: Supporting individuals to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships.
4. Community & Social Inclusion: Helping individuals access and participate in local community and social events to promote life skills and individuality.
