Job Summary
The Metalysis vision is to transform the metals industry through the commercial exploitation of its patented process for producing titanium, tantalum, metal and alloy powders using a low-cost and greener electrolysis process.
We are looking for a Technologist to join our Research and Development Team. Reporting to the R&D Operation Manager, the post holder will contribute to and support the testing activities within the R&D Laboratory. The duties and responsibilities will include liaising with scientists to support and perform experiments, setting up experiments in accordance with H&S guidelines and operational standards, managing (internal) customer expectations, recording and reporting findings and maintaining satisfactory levels of cleanliness within the laboratory area.
Candidates must have either experience of working in a similar role or a degree in a relevant scientific subject in addition to a good standard of IT literacy and be fully conversant with the HS&E requirements of a laboratory environment. Understanding of laboratory equipment including Mass Spectrometer, and Agilent would be advantageous.

Responsibilities
1. Contribute to the research and development activities of the Technology Team, via a combination of conducting and supporting experiments at R&D and/or development cell scales, whilst complying with Metalysis Quality and HS&E policies.
2. Liaise with Scientists to support and perform experiments at R&D and/or development scales in accordance with current procedures and to the agreed schedule, including the interpretation, reporting and storage of generated data in the appropriate location(s), in line with customer expectations and timeframes.
3. Demonstrate expertise in one or more aspects of the FFC and its associated processes (pre-form/electrolysis/product & downstream processing), or operational support functions (electronic equipment/process tools/design/etc.).
4. This involves responsibilities in (i) maintaining procedures, risk & COSHH assessments, (ii) activities related to the daily operation of the equipment such as cell construction, maintenance & calibration schedules, troubleshooting and service contracts, (iii) ensuring consumable levels are maintained, and (iv) training of other members of staff.
5. Responsible for the operation and running of the Powder Spherodiser.
6. Ensure that the R&D Cell Room, associated laboratories and development cell areas are kept in a satisfactory state of cleanliness, applying the philosophies of 5S, whilst adhering to Metalysis HS&E and quality procedures at all times.
7. Undertake a continuous learning/improvement programme, responding to actions arising from result queries, non-conformances, process deviations and audits.
8. Undertake any other reasonable activities in line with Metalysis goals and business plan where appropriate.
