Job summary: To support the Arboriculture Officer in delivering exemplary levels of tree care and tree safety management across the Windsor Estate
Key responsibilities:
* Undertake tree safety management inspections according to industry best practice and The Crown Estate tree safety documents and advise on remedial work as required.
* Produce concise and accurate tree safety and condition reports and maintain records of inspections undertaken.
* Use tree safety management systems to record and monitor inspection progress, utilising the Forester GIS system. Produce updates to the GIS mapping layer as required.
* Produce tree assessments relating to events and building developments taking place across the Estate.
* Support the Arboriculture Officer in the planning and implementation of the Arboriculture work programme.
* Work with the Arboriculture Officer and Conservation Manager to monitor the Ancient Trees across the Estate and to produce work programmes to safeguard and enhance this internationally important collection of trees.
* Assist in the monitoring of pests and diseases affecting trees on the Estate and assist the implementation of action plans to minimise the impact on The Estates trees and woodlands.
* Be an integral part of the Forestry and Arboriculture team, maintain practical arboricultural skills and support the arboricultural and forestry teams with tasks when required.
* Understand and follow our employment policies to ensure compliance with relevant employment and health and safety legislation;
* Support the team as required to deliver Estate wide objectives.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including communicating the programme of works as required;
Knowledge, Experience and Skills required:
* A proven track record of delivering high level arboriculture;
* Professional Tree Inspection qualification.
* ISA TRAQ qualification and the Highway Tree Inspection qualification or working towards.
* Industry certificates of competence in arboriculture including chainsaw use, tree climbing, arial rescue and working from MEWP;
* Demonstrable experience and understanding of land based health and safety practices;
* Knowledge and experience in maintaining biosecurity;
* Competent in using IT software including Microsoft office and GIS mapping software (Arc GIS)
* Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain effective relationships internally and externally;
* An ability to work well under pressure managing competing demands;
* Strong delivery capability and ability to work effectively alone or as part of a team;
* Good organisational and planning skills and ability to balance priorities;
* Excellent communicator, able to communicate clearly and effectively with the team at all levels and with internal and external stakeholders;
* An adaptable, collaborative style;
* Full, clean driving license.
* This position requires the successful candidate to live on site.
