The Practice Nurse will work as part of the primary healthcare team providing Personal Medical Services to the patients of Practice.
You'll be working with a dedicated team of high calibre professionals.
Main duties of the job
Undertake a range of nursing assessments and provide appropriate care/treatment in conjunction with GPs according to practice policy and protocols. Strive to improve standards of care and be involved in identifying practice population needs. Chronic Disease management is an essential part of the role as well as the mentoring of our Health Care Assistants. Knowledge of the GMS contract, e.g., The Quality and Outcomes Framework, LES/DES is a vital element of the post.

We are a training Practice operating over 3 sites.
Job responsibilities
* Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs
* Minor illness care
* Cytology
* Removal of sutures
* Travel clinic
* ECGs
* Asthma/Peak flow readings
* Venepuncture
* Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations
* Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
* Requesting pathology tests, for example, urine culture, swabs
* Interest in diabetes or coronary heart disease and contraception
* Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
* Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
* Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
* At all times, there will be a need to maintain accurate records
* A duty to advise senior nurses of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks
* Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required
* Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post
Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
* Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care
