It’s a super exciting time to join us as we begin to deliver our newly awarded Smoking Cessation support service across the Isle of Wight, and we’re looking for a Children and Young People Stop Smoking Advisor to join us!
Our programme is designed to support residents of the Isle of Wight access the support they need to stop smoking. This can be done through a number of approaches and will include the supply of Nicotine Replacement Therapies (NRT) being sent to them. Combining these, with digital, remote or face-to face appointments with Stop Smoking Advisors to support them to ensure their quit attempt is successful.
This is an exciting opportunity to provide specialist stop smoking support and advice to children and young people across the Isle of Wight, helping them to quit smoking and maintain a smoke-free lifestyle. This role will involve delivering tailored interventions, providing education and raising awareness about the harms of smoking, and working collaboratively with partner agencies to support young people. There is also a big emphasis on this role to provide vape cessation support for this cohort.

A typical day as a Children and Young PeopleStop Smoking Advisor might include:
* Provide one-to-one and group-based stop smoking support to children and young people, utilising evidence-based behavioural change techniques (face-to-face and remotely)
* Conduct comprehensive assessments of young people's smoking habits, motivation to quit, and any associated risk factors.
* Develop personalised quit plans tailored to the individual needs of young people, including nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) advice where appropriate and within local guidelines.
* Deliver engaging and age-appropriate educational sessions on the health risks of smoking and the benefits of quitting.
* Provide ongoing support and relapse prevention strategies to young people throughout their quit journey.
* Develop and deliver outreach activities to engage young people in stop smoking services, including school visits, community events, and online campaigns.
* Build strong relationships with schools, youth organisations, and other relevant agencies to promote the service and facilitate referrals (co-production with such partners will be a core component to ensuring we provide an effective service).
* Raise awareness of the service and the harms of smoking among young people, parents, and professionals.
* Work to reduce health inequalities, and target areas and communities with high smoking prevalence among young people.
* Stay up-to-date with the latest evidence-based stop smoking interventions and best practices for working with young people.
* Contribute to the development and delivery of training for other professionals working with young people.
* Collaborate with other professionals, including school nurses, social workers, and youth workers, to provide holistic support to young people.
* Attend multi-agency meetings to discuss and coordinate support for young people.
* Contribute to the development of local strategies and initiatives to reduce smoking prevalence among young people.
* Provide vape cessation support to children and young people
* Provide education on tobacco and nicotine products to key stakeholders
* Work with partner organisations and colleagues across the healthcare system (and integrated care system as a whole) to help improve service uptake and meet targets
* Ensure an excellent and safe experience for clients, in alignment with our policies and procedures
* Engage in training relevant to your role, such as NCSCT Stop Smoking training and Behaviour Change Level 1 and 2
* Work with colleagues across all of our Thrive Tribe services to contribute to new projects and service developments – we’re always looking to share knowledge and resources!
* Ensue due consideration is given to Information Governance and Clinical Governance legislation, requirements and guidance
* Help us maintain the ethos of Thrive Tribe by driving our organisational culture forward across our services and using every opportunity to embed our values!

To work with us in this role you will need to have some delivery experience of supporting clients to make healthy lifestyle choices. Full training for the role will be provided, however if you have already completed your NCSCT Stop Smoking Advisor training that’s a bonus! Experience working with children and young people is also favourable. For this role to be a success, it is essential that you are passionate about working with children and young people.

Contract: Part time, Permanent
Salary: Starting at £26,000 (pro-rata) rising through annual increments to £28,000 (pro-rata).

Location: This role is home-based, but will require regular travel throughout the Isle of Wight. The role requires applicants to be a car driver and have access to a car for this role.
