Job summary
Applications are invited for this substantive post which will allow expansion of the senior medical workforce to promote a healthier, more resilient team capable of providing care of the highest quality. The successful applicant will work with 18 consultant colleagues, 4 specialty doctors and 2 associate specialists to provide the senior paediatric medical team.
The successful candidate will work with another WTE consultant, a LTFT consultant and a Paediatric Epilepsy Specialist Nurse within the Paediatric Neurology service and with Community Paediatric colleagues who provide additional neurodisability services. Tertiary Paediatric Neurology services are provided by Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. The successful candidate would be expected to attend and facilitate visiting tertiary clinics.
Main duties of the job
The post is for 10 programmed activities which will be divided between the Acute Paediatric service and the sub-specialty interest service provision for Paediatric Neurology. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the Acute Paediatric service including provision of acute ward service as the admitting consultant, acute shifts on the Children's Assessment Unit, provision of safeguarding medicals and some General Paediatric out-patient work. Sub-specialty clinics will be undertaken and the postholder will work within the specialty service multi-disciplinary team providing both inpatient and community support for young people under the team.

The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the teaching of undergraduates from the Plymouth University Peninsula School of Medicine, postgraduates in the clinical situation and to undertake audit and governance activity.
