About the area Animal Care Services (ACS) is responsible for ensuring that all laboratory animals used in research and teaching at the University are housed and cared for to standards of best practice and in compliance with all legal and statutory requirements. About the opportunity You will provide a high level of specialised technical support. Play a key role in facility management, project facilitation, and implementing best practice outcomes to ensure the efficient operation of facilities, projects and activities. Oversee the decontamination of animal holding areas and equipment as required. About you Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent competency. Substantial experience in animal facility practices, particularly in the care, wellbeing, and needs of experimental animals within a similar environment. Relevant experience managing animals for research and/or teaching purposes. Detailed knowledge of the Australian Code of Practice for the Care and Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes. Proficiency in a range of computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email and online/internet-based systems. Note : Availability for after-hours and weekend rosters at various locations. Current “C” or “C-A” class driver’s licence.
