Job description Site Name: UK – London – New Oxford Street, Belgium-Wavre Posted Date: Jan 20 2025 Engineering Operations & Strategy Director This role will preferably be based in GSK HQ, UK but can also be based in Wavre, Belgium or US East Coast sites. This is a truly exciting role to drive successful execution and delivery, the Engineering Operations and Strategy Director will lead the Central Engineering & EHS, and Automation & ETS programme governance framework ensuring the initiation, planning, execution and budgetary control of programmes is to the agreed GSK standard of excellence in project management. Another strategic imperative of this role is to drive future workforce mapping (FWM) to define and implement the strategic capabilities required to discover, develop, deliver, and sustain automation technologies. This will be delivered in collaboration with; Engineering and EHS Leads, Mfg Groups, HR, Tech and automation vendors. In this role you will: Responsible for the facilitation and development of the central Engineering & EHS Strategy and the Automation & ETS Teams and through cross functional collaboration with Engineering and EHS leads, Mfg Groups, Tech and GPS. Responsible for robust traction and governance for A&ETS and Engineering & EHS Teams including Opex, Capex, HC and Fixed Assets Facilitate the communication of the programme objectives, deployment timelines, resource requirements, and value delivered through routine governance meetings and through specific intent meetings. Embed a Governance Framework for A&ETS that covers; Performance management, approval process, risk management, change management, budget control and timely decision making. Drive a value centric mindset working with the A&ETS leadership team to develop our capability to estimate and forecast the value of DDA & Automation initiatives. Use this as a primary tool during decision making with business stakeholders. Identify and manage risks and issues to the programmes and budgets. Operate with a continuous improvement & inquisitive mindset with a view to simplify processes & ways of working. Required Qualifications and experience: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology discipline Considerable experience in Engineering roles directly supporting manufacturing operations across multiple sites in a regulated industry, i.e. Pharma, FMCG, Consumer Experience leading production operations on site. Deep understanding of the operational environment and challenges (Primary, Secondary & Steriles) that multiple sites operate under. Experience as an end-user of digital and non-digital systems and processes. Ability to take the insight and feedback gained from site end-users and translate that into tangible requirements to shape the Automation Strategy into solutions that will make a production floor difference. Proven ability to lead cross-functional project teams across a wide range of technical, functional and business disciplines. Excellent interpersonal, presentational and persuasive skills to successfully interact, manage and influence stakeholders at all levels Experience at a senior level is essential to interact credibly with key GSK executives and Stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications and experience: Masters, PhD or further training in Engineering or Technology discipline Ability to conceptualise creative solutions, articulate them, and gain buy-in from senior managers. Outstanding managerial skills and leadership abilities within multi-disciplinary teams in order to make teams work whilst developing self and others. Ability to translate objectives into long term strategy and short-term tactical planning. Provide broad based technical and non-technical support to Senior Leadership Team initiatives.
