Job description
Are you passionate about pigs and looking for a new career? We are recruiting for a pig stockperson who is responsible for executing various husbandry duties as part of a team on a daily basis.
Responsibilities:
1. Implementing daily routines to achieve individual unit goals.
2. Ensuring the basic welfare requirements of animals are met through daily tasks.
3. Identifying and implementing best practices consistently.
4. Developing personal skills to meet unit targets and operate effectively.
5. Operating within the welfare codes of practice and environmental parameters.
6. Assisting the Pig Unit Manager and Assistant Pig Manager in implementing and developing unit strategies to meet targets.
7. Operating safely in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
Main Tasks:
8. Daily feeding, watering, and monitoring of animal health and environment.
9. Providing support and covering for other team members as directed by the Line Manager.
10. Carrying out routines as specified by the Line Manager.
11. Reporting any compromises to animal welfare to the Manager.
12. Participating in training courses as required to enhance operational skills.
13. Ensuring a safe work environment and reporting potential safety hazards.
14. Maintaining cleanliness and tidiness in the work area.
Package:
£25.5k - £29k DOE.
Accomadation can be provided (additional cost)
Work Hours: A minimum of 39 hours per week, with flexibility to work as required to achieve targets, including some bank/public holidays, weekend work, and night shifts as needed.
Holidays: 31 days per year, including Bank Holidays.
