Band 6 Occupational Therapist – North Warwickshire Community Mental Health Team for Adults
We are looking for two Occupational Therapists who want to develop their careers and be part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team that works creatively with those with mental health conditions across North Warwickshire.
Working for our Team offers you the opportunity to develop some excellent specialist skills and take part in innovative and effective interventions. Time is spent investing in you and your development both as a team member and Occupational Therapist. There is potential to shadow colleagues when you first start and lots of training opportunities within the team, with time given to allow you to access this. This will enable you to confidently undertake the role of delivering treatment and interventions to your patients.
We are continually exploring ways to continue to further develop the delivery of Occupational Therapy within this setting, with good peer support networks and OT specific training and forums.
Main duties of the job
The team has invested in considerable staff training and development over the years to develop staff skills with working with our patient group. Working within an established team, you will be managing a caseload of patients who have complex mental health problems and delivering Occupational Therapy Interventions as well as other psychologically informed interventions. Full training will be given on these. You will act as a specialist OT as well as having a caseload of generic responsibilities such as duty, assessments and providing treatment and interventions to our patients. As a successful candidate you will have the opportunity to build your skills and confidence. You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, using evidence-based approaches and time limited interventions. You will be communicating with a wide variety of patients; professionals; partners and agencies
About us
Working for our Team is demanding and hard work but incredibly rewarding. It offers the opportunity to develop some excellent specialist skills and take part in imaginative and effective interventions. The nature of the team means that you bring your knowledge, experience, enthusiasm and empathy and are exposed to the knowledge and skills of other colleagues within the team, which promotes growth and development within your own practice at an accelerated rate. We are a team that recognises the work we do can be difficult at times and we have a strong supportive approach- both in professional matters and passing on good practice, learning and sharing risk but also when it impacts on us personally. We recognise the value in Supervision, and this is why we ensure we offer a range, including CBT supervision, Peer Supervision, Caseload Supervision & Development Supervision. They are well spaced, and this is something the team feel adds to the varying levels of support and shared responsibility.
The role is very rewarding, with a strong team spirit, where everyone is valued. We are looking for someone who brings warmth and a sense of humour, both able to work autonomously but a real team-player.
As part of working in our team you will be working with some individuals with complex mental health problems both with psychotic illness and non-psychosis presentations. Some people will present with significant trauma and emotional dysregulation. This can be a challenging client group; however, we have a positive attitude & non-judgmental approach toward our patient group, understanding what has brought them to their current presentation, recognising individual strengths and establishing clear, focussed, professional relationships that identify clear boundaries and expectations for both the patient and clinician. This empowers both patient and clinician to see what can be achieved through clear collaborative care planning.
