Durham County Council’s Children and Young People’s Services have an exciting opportunity for the right Practitioner to join our very successful Future Hope Practice. This is an exciting time, as we look to innovate and expand our offer, building on the success seen over the past 4 years.
Future Hope is a countywide project that works with women who have children who don't currently live in their care. We know how difficult it is when families can't stay together. Our tag line is ‘Stepping forward together’, we are here to provide a listening ear, practical support and the tools to equip and empower women to make the changes they desire.
We work with women who have experienced, or are at risk of, repeated pregnancies that result in children needing to be separated from their care. We aim to give women the opportunity to take a break, reflect and take control of their lives, breaking a painful cycle that causes both them and their children deep trauma.
Our Practitioners form long-term relationships with the women, helping them in all areas of their lives to achieve their goals and attain stability. We work with women regardless of circumstances, we are assertive in our outreach, working to build their trust and engagement. Our practice is trauma informed, strength based and woman centred. We can work with women for up to 18 months. After that we offer light touch support as a safety net when women need advice or signposting.
You will be an experienced trauma informed Practitioner, with a passion for relationship-based change work and a desire to see less children entering the care system each year.
