Job summary We are excited to be able to offer an exciting opportunity to join the Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist Team at Colchester Hospital. This will be a job share with the existing Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist working over two days. As an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist you will provide expert care and support to patients from referral in on a Target 2 week wait pathway for a suspected lung cancer, through investigations, diagnosis & onward to treatment, follow-up and to end of life. You will play a key role in the multidisciplinary team and act as a central point of contact and support for the patient, their family and the wider team. Our goal is to improve patient pathways and experiences, offer exceptional level of advice and support to each individual and their family. We offer advice on how to access supportive services with early signposting to ensure the individual has the best patient experience. The Team liaise with other hospitals in the region so organisation and keeping updated with patient's cancer journey is imperative. You will work autonomously and as part of the wider team, have exceptional communication skills and a motivation to provide outstanding, person-centred, holistic care. Ideally you will have post-registration experience within Respiratory & Oncology services including knowledge of oncology treatments. You must be compassionate and caring and be willing to work hard as part of the existing Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist team. Main duties of the job Lead the development of Lung oncology nursing service across the trust and the primary care setting in order to provide high quality, cost effective service using research, audit and evidence based practice. Provide specialist care, knowledge, advice, information and education to patients, carers, healthcare professionals and relevant others ensuring individual clinical, psychosocial and emotional needs are met. Participate in service delivery across the trust/primary care/cancer network ensuring that it meets the national recommendations and directives for patients with lung with cancer. Work with the Trust Lead Clinicians for Lung Cancer in developing and implementing a strategy for the implementation of NICE Improving Outcomes Guidance and IOG Guidelines.
