Team Manager – Skills & Wellbeing Salary: £ 30,517.50 per annum Location: Boscawen Farm, Blackwater, Cornwall Job Type: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week Boscawen Farm is a vibrant centre for lifelong learning where individuals with learning disabilities develop essential life and vocational skills. Through land-based activities, including animal care, horticulture, and heritage crafts, we foster a supportive, community-oriented environment. United Response is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Manager to lead our Skills, Wellbeing & Lifelong Learning Centre at Boscawen Farm. The role involves managing land-based activities, liaising with various stakeholders (including individuals with Autism, Learning Disabilities, and Mental Health challenges), and collaborating with our Education & Employment teams. The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Service Manager to develop projects that support true community inclusion and meaningful outcomes for the people we support. Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership & Guidance: Mentor, support, and inspire the team, fostering a person-centred approach. Safeguarding: Uphold and ensure compliance with United Response’s Safeguarding Adults policy, identifying and addressing any risk of harm or neglect. Supervision & Development: Conduct regular supervision meetings with staff, promoting professional growth and development. Staff Induction & Training: Ensure all staff complete mandatory and non-mandatory training for their roles, and manage inductions. Community Connections: Support individuals in building strong, positive community ties. Performance & Health Management: Oversee return-to-work meetings, address performance issues, and liaise with Senior Service Manager/HR as necessary. Resource & Budget Management: Oversee staffing resources, rota management, and maintain awareness of service budgets. Health & Safety Compliance: Conduct regular quality and Health & Safety checks, manage legal notifications, and ensure compliance with all safety protocols. Stakeholder Relationships: Build and maintain partnerships with families, advocates, local authorities, and care managers. Employment Support: Assist individuals in pursuing employment opportunities. Farm & Land Management: Oversee all farming and land activities, including animal welfare, husbandry, and equipment maintenance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for making a difference, with a deep commitment to the mission and work of United Response. They should bring experience in supporting individuals with learning disabilities or mental health needs and have a background in leading community-based projects. Experience in helping people access employment opportunities is advantageous. Essential qualifications include a Level 3 in Social Care Management or an equivalent credential. Strong leadership and communication skills are vital, as the role involves supervising and motivating staff and effectively liaising with stakeholders. Proficiency in IT systems and Microsoft Office is required, as is flexibility to work varied hours, including some evenings and weekends, along with the willingness to attend offsite training when needed.
