Overview We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented General Ledger (GL) Accountant who is part qualified, to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will focus on performing balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data. Key Responsibilities Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Prepare, review, and reconcile balance sheet accounts primarily for our German entities on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, ensuring timely and accurate submission to senior management. Working capital reporting for France, Germany and UK entities. Work with external accountants to prepare and reconcile monthly and annual vat returns. Journal Entries: Post and review journal entries to ensure they are appropriate, supported, and comply with relevant accounting standards. Variance Analysis: Conduct thorough variance analyses, investigating and following up to resolve issues. Month-End Close: Support the month-end close process, including the preparation of schedules, analysis, and reconciliations. Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations as required. Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and ensure all reconciliations are documented for SOX. Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements. Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including HR, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Finance Business Partners and Project accountants, to resolve issues and streamline processes. Qualifications Qualifications Part Qualified Accountant: Currently pursuing or partially completed a professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA). Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Experience: At least 2-3 years of relevant accounting experience, particularly in balance sheet reconciliations, some knowledge of VAT returns and requirements Technical Skills: Good proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly. Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ethics: High level of integrity and commitment to ethical accounting practices. Desirable Attributes Experience: Previous experience in a similar role within a medium to large-sized organization. Knowledge: Understanding of IFRS and GAAP standards. Knowledge of German accounting or use of Paprika desirable Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to team goals. Adaptability: Flexible and adaptable to change, with a willingness to learn and develop. Working Conditions Primarily remote based role with some office days in London depending on location.
